The Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds Board of Directors

The Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds Board of Directors is comprised of not less than five but not more than nine officials. Board members serve a two-year term. For biographical information, see names below.

Regular meetings of the Board of Directors and Standing Committees are held on the second Tuesday of every month.

Gary Haynes, President

Duties include conducting meetings, fund raising, spokesperson, webmaster.

2000-Present: Village of Dimondale Planning Commission Member, 2005-Present: Village of Dimondale Planning Commission Chairman

·       Responsible for village ordinances including zoning, economic planning, etc.

           2005-Present: Village of Dimondale Parks and Recreation Task force member

·       Planned and implemented the removal of the Dimondale Dam and installation of “W” weir

·       New Island park development, applying for grant, design water access and trails, etc

Grand River Expedition 2000

·        Represented the Boy Scouts

·        Helped coordinate stop at the Village of Dimondale

·        Participated in Displays and River Cleanup

·        Journeyed the entire distance with the expedition

Grand River Expedition 2010

·        Helped set up and run booth at the Quiet Water Symposium

·        Coordinated Village of Dimondale Lunch activities for Expedition 2010

·        Designed and ran Face book pages, Yahoo group, and Google group

·        Played bugle at 6am every morning during the entire length of the expedition

·        Journeyed the entire distance with the expedition

- Review proposals for state and federal nonpoint source grants

Assist with development of technical manuals for nonpoint source pollution and storm water runoff controls

Develop measures of success for water quality programs

- Administer grants for storm water training seminars and manuals

- Coordinate municipal storm water permitting activities statewide

Provide regulatory and technical advice to the Storm Water Program Coordinator, Division management, and staff

- Develop administrative rules and written storm water guidance

- Assist with statutory revisions

Provide storm water seminars for municipal and industrial permittees

Provide permit compliance assistance by telephone and email

- Assist local governments with storm water control issues

(May 2004-March 2011). Provided counsel on environmental law and policy to state agency clients on a contract basis.
Boreal Press (July 2000-present). Owner, author, publisher, and consultant for print and internet publishing.

Thunder Bay Press (December 1997-July 2000). As editor-in-chief, directed acquisitions, editorial, production, and purchasing operations for Lansing-area publisher specializing in Michigan-related books.
• Negotiated and executed contracts for acquisition of book rights;
• Worked closely with authors while performing all book editing, design, and production duties;
• Managed annual budget of over $600,000, including purchase of printing and marketing services;
• Conducted all marketing and public relations activities for the press.

Quiet Water Society (1997-2000). Founding board member and marketing coordinator. Handled all marketing and publicity for Michigan’s largest indoor paddlesports exhibition during the first four years of the show.

Liutauras Gedvilas, Board member

Duties include attending meetings, solicit grants and fund raising, provide technical/software expertise

Air Traffic Control Specialist, Federal Aviation Administration — 1978-2003
Worked at Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center initially both as a Center Controller trainee and as a Flight Data Specialist. Went on to a journeyman position as an ATCS Flight Service Specialist and retired here in Lansing at Capital City Airport. During the course of my service, I participated in many training classes for supervisory positions.

Volunteer, Lansing, MI — 2003-present
Have volunteered for every fun job that I could find which fit into my schedule: East Lansing Film Festival, National Folk Festival, East Lansing Art Festival, Lansing Old Town Jazz Fest, Old Town Blues Fest, Greater Lansing Chili Cook Off, Great Lakes Folk Festival, the Grand River Expedition 2010 (as Registrar for GRE2010) and the Quiet Waters Symposium in 2011. Am currently serving as a member at large for LAMALUG (Lansing Area Mac and Lisa Users Group), a Macintosh Computer users group and sit on the board for MGROW (the Middle Grand River Organi
zation of Watersheds).
